Sorry for all the questions but I am really stuck now. I have a choice of
either a kaw 1500 classic or a road star. They are both pretty equal in detail
I have heard good things about the road star and the 1500 but being that I am
6' 4 and 280 lbs. I tend to think the road star might be a better bike , and
the fact that I have no knowledge of fixing a bike it seems that most say the
road star has a better service story? and this is my first bike with no
knowledge of riding.
Feel free to email me at my email addy so it doesnt tie up the board.
You have all been a great deal of help
Kevin

Don't have the details, but earlier model Road Star 1600s
have had several failures including transmissions. Spend a
little time at the service dept of your local Yamaha dealer
asking about those issues.

Which 1500 Classic would that be, the one with carb or
FI? There's a difference btw them. Am 6'3" $ 235-lbs with
34" inseam, and own '01 1500 Classic FI which has
plenty of room. Considered the Road Star, but
the Vulcan was more fun to ride, and smoother.

BTW, the more distance btw your seat and the floorboards,
the better the ergos for those of us with long legs. Bikes w/
lower seat heights usually mean cramped legs.

Take the time to review the road tests of them at:

Kevin ...
No doubt, the Kaw is the better of the two in many ways. Looks are not
that important, but the Kaw Does look better.
