In spite of [1] the rough reception I got when I posted here the last time I
am currently doing my D.A.S. and having great fun in the process, I also
passed my theory test (35/35, 63/75) and am researching the costs of getting
a bike on the road, having been lurking here for a while now I was getting
seriously worried about the cost of insurance for a "30 something" for a
first bike and no no claims bonus after I rear ended someone last year,[2]
so I finaly plucked up the courage to phone Bennets and got a quote for a
Honda CB500 (for example).
£172.00 fully comprehensive £150 exess and one year breakdown cover
including Europe.
I'm very happily gobsmacked.
[1] Because of?
[2] Don't

Heh, well done.
I paid £280 FC on my CB500 and I am over 40.
Renewal is shortly due so I'll give Bennetts a bell I think >> Stay informed about: Insurance |

Have you tried Carole Nash? They usually beat Bennetts hands down.
The quote you mention sounds suspiciously cheap - I was quoted about
?100 more by Bennetts recently for a CB500 - no NCD, but no claims
history, add 10 years to age.

Hi Just renewed my bike insurance
Third Party Fire & Theft
kawasaki zephyr 550 3 years no claims £78 + admin fee of £15 excess £150
I suppose they have to make a living, but thats easy money?
Anyhow broker is http://www.nebike.co.uk/gti/index.htm you can get an
online quote and i am happy with the service.
Bennetts quote was £119 for the same cover and a higher excess £400, as was
Carol Nash (not sure if i spelt it right) they wanted £163 but that included
breakdown cover(already got aa cover for that)
Oh and i am 42

Looks like I'm going to have to try and get a bit older/ more
experienced/ more garaged/ less in London.
BTW is that the Rock Face in Brum you work at? I used to climb there

Well I'm nearly 33, I've had my licence just short of 9 years, I've got
a garage and I live about as little in London as you can.
While sheep rustling is a problem up my way they don't do many bikes.
> BTW is that the Rock Face in Brum you work at?
Um no, I work for a large computer consultancy firm. If I found a job
at a climbing wall that was paying in the region of 50K PA then I'd take
it like a shot.
> I used to climb there

Never been there. When I lived in the Midlands I used to climb at
Warwick Uni wall or Markfield Quarry in the summer.
Got a UKRMRM? Want one?

My renewal premium with NU Direct is £240.00 FC, 1yrs NCD.
I phoned Bennets last night, and they can do it for £100 less, even with the
race end can.
Much cheapness
