OK I tried to get a quote for insurance with Shannons online using
Firefox 2 and Vista. I'm curious - can someone tell me they CAN get a
quote for a bike using FF2 ? I use 13 extensions and have not tried
"safe mode". If it DOES work for you is it Vista or XP ?
I entered the exact same details on the same PC using IE and of course I
got a quote back.
I sent a feedback saying "it does not work" and got this back :
Me->Shannon's
Subject: FIREFOX
State: NSW
-------------------------------------------
Description: Your website does not work with firefox I get told to
contact an operator when I use it to get a quote but IE returns one.
That's cost you my business. Sorry.
-----------------------------
Shannon's reply :
42% of our users are using Firefox with no issues. I suspect there is a
user issue.
Best regards
Shannons
-----------------------------
My sugar coated sweetie reply :
Using a clean install of Vista and Firefox 2, it does not work yet using
IE on the same PC, it does.
Saying it's a "user problem" after quoting a statistic is purely
insulting. After all for 100% of the people I know in this situation,
it does not work with Firefox.
Does that mean 58% of your users using Firefox have problems or that 58%
of them use something else ?

OTOH Ubuntu is free, has everything you need and works, just works.

Well there's your problem: your Australian "disctionary" isn't working
properly
Try the IE Tab extension since you seem to be a glutton for Firefox
Add-Ons, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work. I've found that
sites that provide secure data entry forms frequently require IE and
that's all there is to it.

PEBKAC error.
I don't think any of your add-ons are causing grief, but I do wonder why
anyone'd want all of that tacked onto their browser.
Then again, you are running Vista, so obviously "bloatware" is your
preference.
I'd suggest you scrap Vista (for at least the next 18 months, to give M$
time to make it actually work), and get rid of the superfluous add-ons in
FF.

I think you misunderstood their reply. "I suspect there is a user issue." is
an oblique way of them saying "You're a fuggen idiot mate". Hehehe.

Thanks for checking it out, Toosmoky - I'll try my XP setup and see if
it's vista related .. Funnily enough I have the same extensions running
in XP too. I use IE Tab at work - is IE view better ?

It worked with XP .. and Vista.
It definitely did not previously as I used two separate PCs before I
sent feedback.
So now, I have NFI - nothing's changed on either setup since the initial
check on 3/8 except for Windows updates of course..
Thanks to the one person who assisted

To be honest for sentimental reasons I'd go for Workbench .. loved my
Amiga - I will try Linux sometime - I've been meaning to for ages
(years) but never get around to wiping a HD partition..

IE View just adds the option in the right-click menu to open a page in
IE. I've rarely used it, usually only on pages that have DHTML menus
that don't work properly in anything but Internet Exploder.
