Got in from work this afternoon to be greeted by a letter from the
soliciters on the doormat. As I'm opening it, I'm thinking "what the fuck
now" But it turns out that the other party has admitted liability, and now
we've just got to settle how much.
What should I be expecting for the broken wrist side of things, considering
I didn't miss out on any work because of it?

Well, if it were an accident in the workplace, a figure of between 1 and 2
grand, on the assumption there will be no recurring problems.
Taken from a PDF on <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.hazards.org" target="_blank">www.hazards.org</a>
not sure if that helps or not, but well congrats on them fessing up.

How broken - was there surgical repair or just a cast? It makes a
difference, as does if it was your dominant hand.
Surgical repair to dominant wrist, physio followup, 4-6K.
Busted non-dominant wrist, cast and forget, 2-3K.
Don't forget your new lid, leathers, gloves and boots - a grand should
cover that.

Depends how much I get and when I get it. I doubt money will be coming too
me anytime soon, so by the time I get it, I may be onto my full licence, so
either a nice sports 400, or put it away to help me through my first year of
uni when I go.

Isn't getting insurance fun? - Well, I've got the cash in the bank, and due to pick the bike up this afternoon not too long before I have to go to work (pah!). So it seemed a good idea to get cover for the bike, and the best idea seemed to be to go through my current brokers. Which....
Insurance - In spite of [1] the rough reception I got when I posted here the last time I am currently doing my D.A.S. and having great fun in the process, I also passed my theory test (35/35, 63/75) and am researching the costs of getting a bike on the road, having....
Insurance question - Does anyone know if it is possible to get fire and theft insurance for a bike that won't be on the road (temporarily)? The GPZ is being delivered Friday but I don't have a full licence yet. I tried a couple of brokers and it was a flat no. Any suggestion...
Insurance update - Footman James came up trumps, gave me storage cover with no problem whatsoever. I never imagined it would be so difficult to get cover. All I need now is a full licence! -- InsanelySensible GPZ500 - The shiny red garage ornament |
