I got to the second paragraph and gave up. If I carried on, I might've
bought myself a pipe and slippers and listened to Classic FM on a retro

So, three and a half pages of how we deserve it and it's all our own fault,
followed by a grudging admission that most motorbike accidents are not the
fault of the rider.

About what I would have expected from them.

I thought it was perfectly reasonable.

Nothing ground breaking or terribly controversial - in either direction.

Though I do wonder how effective airbags really are when you've just
headbutted the door of another car - I would have thought they potentially
would stop you coming OFF the bike - I'd much rather do a little swan dive
and take my chances with the ground then stop instantly in a car, but that's
me.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Will safety ever sell bikes? If they all look as bad as BMW's C1? Erm,
no.

Road engineers should take bikers into account when designing roads. Has
this not been banged on about for years and has anyone did anything?

Diesel spills. This was allegedly made illegal years ago. Why do I still
see roads with rainbows everywhere I go? Because no one gives a
shit if we fall off? Or am I just cynical?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

That's not just you, Dan. Jump, you fucker, jump is my motto. Tuck,
roll and slide gracefully to a stop avoiding the road furniture. A
bit of gravel rash is far preferable to wearing the side of a car.

Last time I put a hole in a hedge I was seventeen. So that was quite a
lot of years ago. I don't like falling off, it hurts way too much. Being
called a wuss or a big girl's blouse doesn't hurt anything like it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Unless, as is the case here, when they 'dualled' the A1, they left the
original wide sweeping near-deserted bits for me to play on :^)

Except the bit on p2, 3rd column, where the Road Safety Minister David
Jamieson "welcomed this 'timely' report, saying "Motorcycling is an important
part of the transport mix and we will consider the report's recommendations
closely as we further develop our motorcycling strategy"

True - although the ABS recommendation may have some merit?

I didn't say it didn't.

My next bike (whatever it will be) will have ABS as I personally couldn't
bullshit myself to believe I could brake better without it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
