So I sold the R6 racebike today and I'm down to two bikes. Got a nice
chunka change for it as well. This leaves me with several
possibilies...

1. Get a later model 600 with radial brakes and upside down goodies.

2. Get a Duke, trick it out, back it in.

I think I will sleep on it.

Forget the Duke, supermoto your DR650 (you just got one, right?). Get
a set of road wheels and tires, and you can swap between trailbike and
supermoto whenever you want. That's what I'm planning on doing when
I'm ready to get my next bike. But I'll probably go with the Suzuki
DRZ400.

Wha? That's a major step down!

 >How about the KTM Adventure with the big twin?

Only if I replace my current streetbike. Otherwise I want the sideways
single that I can spank greater machines with in the turns.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I've ridden the DRZ400 and DR650. For the road the 650 takes it. The
400 has less torque and makes about the same power at what feels like
twice the rpm.

If you're going mostly offroad or staying in the city then the 400 is
nice, but for any highway work or longer distance touring you will be
annoyed.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I had a DR750, It`s front brakes made the KLR`s seem like a pair of
dual-piston brembos... ;o)

Yeah, but the 400 is so much lighter and has better suspension... It
wouldn't be my only bike and I probably wouldn't go touring on it. But
yeah, I'm going to test-ride it before I buy anything (I found a
Suzuki dealer in NJ that will sometimes allow test rides). That
probably won't be for a while anyway.

It happens to be perfectly weighted for me so I don't notice. You
don't need all those clickers if they don't need to go anywhere.

OTOH the 400 feels too "hollow". Singles don't make big HP... they're
wimpier than an EX500. It's all about the torque and the 650 wins
here. They both have the same top end but the 650 spanks it from a
light time and time again.

 > It wouldn't be my only bike and I probably wouldn't go touring on it.

That's what you say now but the nearest twisties/dirt is 60 miles from
here, so unless you also own a pickup you're going to have to do some
"touring". And believe me, on the "heavy" 650 you're being flapped
around like a plastic bag in the breeze. 60 miles is an eternity.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
