The Maxim is a good bike. The Yamaha 650cc (653cc?) inline four is a
very solid engine. But if the bike was not maintained properly and if
it was driven badly, well... there really is no telling. That goes for
any vehicule, I guess.
Up here in Canada, I'd say $500 for good shape, and up to $1000 for
really good shape. Don't forget to check the compression. I would
recommend it as a first bike for sure. I had the 1982 Seca 650 (same
engine). It was a lot of fun and rode great! And it gave me no trouble
whatsoever.
