I'm looking for thoughts on this. How much room should you have around
your helmet when wearing it? Should there be any give at all or not?

You get the idea.

Thank you to everyone.

I think my question was answered with it. I just got a new helmet (a
modular Nolan N-102) and I was trying to debate the size. It felt a bit
big but I wanted to make sure I get another option before I send it back
for the next size smaller.

I am totally in agreement with those who said it
should be tight enough to be slightly uncomfortable when it
is new. Those who mentioned head shape also have a very
good point. All helmet manufacturers do not use the same
head form. Try several on until you have a good firm fit
for YOUR HEAD. -- steve

I'm gonna send it back for the next size smaller.

The Zeus 3XL I had would give me a headache, as well as a divot in my
brow that would take 1+ hours to fade away. It was the largest I
could find (and I still had to remove the earpads to get it over my
head) until I heard about the Vega 5XL... The Vega is on the border
of being too loose, I can tighten the chinstrap enough so that it
stays in a tight position on my head (if the chinstrap is too loose it
slides up enough to start to wobble).

I'm surprised and disappointed that Nolan doesn't have bigger helmets,
considering the audience for the boxers tends to run tall and heavy
(need strong legs and a long inseam to be happy with them)..

I wouldn't wear one, it could break your neck with whip lash.

For those who are already brain dead, maybe a helmet really isn't necessary.
