I'm in Saskatchewan, so bike season is a little shorter here. Beginning of
May until about now. I've had a bad biking year. My bike is in the shop
for rebuilding. What's your street bike?

Saskatchewan is "Western Canada !?"

Anything East of Alberta is concidered back east here.

Anyways, my street bike is a Suzuki 1200 Bandit.

Anything west of Toronto is western Canada...at least that's what Ottawa
thinks.
The Bandit is a nice bike. I was riding an '84 Suzuki GS 750 SE, number 3
of 200, but I spun a bearing this summer. I want a GSXR 750.

I have a relative with a GS1100E, he bought it new in '82 and still has it.

He drove it for years, did the Western States thing far south as Mexico,
over to the Grand Canyon, and back up east several times.Took it over it to
and around Europe once (it's been to the IOM TT!!!) and even shipped it to
New Zealand and spent 6 months bombing around on it down there.

A few years ago he bought a new bike and restored the old GS over a winter,
and did a really nice job. Sort of had to retire it...it was just getting
too long in the tooth and wasn't reliable enough or any kind of a trip
anymore. Repainted origonal silver gray and new decaling, found an origonal
exhaust on e-bay etc...the only things not factory are the bars and front
brake lines. Almost looks better than it it did in the showroom now....but
its insides are tired (mostly like clutch, timing chain stuff)

Yeah sounds cool.. You never get over your first bike really. Over time
in memory it seems to improve I had a Yammie RD400R two stroke as my
first real street bike..The wheelies were fun! One piston exploded inside
the Jug for the third time and We just said screw it.

My father-in-law rides a '00 GSXR750. Him and his buddies from work go on
trips to the Black Hills and Somewhere in B.C. I have ridden other makes
but the Katana was my favorite. Going through long sweeping turns at 187K
and just wringing the throttle for more....God I love speed on a Zuke!

So Fraser Valley.....in a big town, out of town, you're mayor of the town
what's it like? Ever been to the prairies?

Yes, those RD's were great bikes. I had the use of an RD350 for about a year
once and had a blast on it.

I haven't been to the prairies since I was about 12 (196late?) ). I know,
flags me as an old fart. It was a train trip to Saskatoon at Xmas. I
remember it being freaking cold, with a capital F )

Beleive it or not, people used to take trains to get around in Ca at one
time.
