SV650 - Just test rode an SV650. Very nice bike. I like the looks of the SV650s better but the riding position of the SV650 is better. Does anyone know of an fairing for the SV650 or is it possible to raise the bars on the 650s? Thanks for any..

I LOVE my SV650 - Just had to say that. I'm a relative newbie, only been riding for about a year. I know that someday I may want a different bike, the only other I've ever been on are my Honda dirt bike and the little 250's they had at the MSF class I took to..

sv650, not S, bodywork. - If I happened to find a real cheap sv650 naked model, what are the options for adding full bodywork for street & track? What's it cost? I don't imagine the naked version has the extra parts needed to fasten the fairings on but maybe

SV650 as a first/second bike? - I am a returning rider. I haven't had a bike in 5 years. My last ride was an older KZ650, and I am looking for something modern sporty and sane. I plan on taking the MSF course in March to shake off some of the rust and to fix any bad habits I may have..

Help with 2001 SV650 Maintenance - A friend purchased a 2001 SV650, but no owner's manual was included. She is hunting for a Haynes or Clymer service book, but hasn't located one. She has asked for my with chain and change. Could someone from..

I have a 2002 SV650S. When accelerating I get alot of "noise." Sound like
metal, not grinding hard to describe. Like a 10 speed bicycle going faster
then humanly possible. Only makes this sound when accelerating or
maintaining speed. When completely backed off of the throttle (slowing down)
sound disappears.

I thought this might be chain noise? Is it? I oiled it. It's still there.

I don't remember a friends same bike 2001 doing this. It doesn't seem to
affect performance as near as I can tell. Does this warm or cold. The faster
I am going the higher pitch the sound. This is more an annoyance and a
source or worry for me at this point. Things like transmission bearing
replacement is flashing threw my head. Only 2,500 miles on bike aquired just
recently.

It's not super loud, but some help? Any suggestions would be great. Thanx.

Is the chain properly adjusted? An overly tight chain will "sing" in time
with road speed. Keep in mind too that the chain tightens up as the rear
suspension compresses.

My first thought is an over-tightened chain. Loosen it a bit and see if it
still makes that noise.

Sound like gear whine from the transmission? My '02 does the same
thing, and it is really noticeable when I have the lower bodywork
mounted, and almost non-existant without the bodywork. I think it's
normal racket that is bouncing around the fairing.

check to see if it's coming from the engine area. the SVs don't have the
greatest cam chain tensioners in the world. it might be cam chain slap.

just one more thing to look for. good luck finding out what the noise is.
