How many of you guys take time off work to riding? I don't mean planned
trips during holidays, but when you look out the window and decide 'Sod
this, I'd rather be riding'.

After 9 tornado's in two days last week followed up with torrential rain
and big wind gusts. I'm looking out the window to beautiful sunshine and
no wind in sight (still trees). It's 11.22am and I'm out of
here.......It's KTM vs.the gravel backroads time!

I think my wife and I will be Winging it on Monday.

Since the temperatures in the Arizona desert are now in excess of 40C
at times, ya gotta get up EARLY to get in a nice, respectable couple
of hundred mile ride in before the temps become unbearable.

Since we're now having our summer rainy season as well, early is
normally better.

Hope the ride was a good one - wait, ANY ride is a good one, right?

We had a week-long heat/haze/humidity bombardment end yesterday. Now
it's gorgeous, low 80's with no humidity. I left work at noon to go
to the gym for a workout. When I came back to the compound at 2:00
PM, there was a steady stream of people leaving early. The security
guard at the gate - a fellow rider - looked at my badge and then said
"I'd be doing you a favor if I told you your badge expired and you
have to wait til tomorrow to get a new one - you're going the WRONG
way, dude!" What could I say? He was right, but hell, I need the
billable hours. I didn't get out of there until 7:45PM. <Heavy
sigh.>

I've been know to call in and say I'm having trouble with my eyes.

I can't see going to work.... Although I must admit that I used that excuse
for big powder ski days more than riding.

I put the trailer hitch on the xs650 and head to the lake where I pull
my trailered sailboat into the water. What could be better than that?
Oh, yeah, I forgot, Internet porn....

Back to work, you slacker! Don't you realize the prosperity
of New Zealand depends on everyone bracing themselves
to their duties and doing their bit? Look, your country's
already torn into two chunks because too many blokes
were too busy goofing off to hold it together.

Now sharpen your shears and get your butt back to
Footrot Flats, ON THE DOUBLE!

During the winter if we have a Chinook blowing in I'll take a lieu day
and go riding while the warm wind lasts.

Summers are too busy at work to do that, but the sun doesn't really go
down until near eleven PM here this time of year, so there are lots of
daylight hours to enjoy an evening ride.

Don't need to. I work in the evening. I have all morning and most of
the afternoon to play. Ya gotta get your priorities straight.

You must be lucky. I have yet to find a job that works swing shift within
my field of interest.

However, I have when things got hectic and weather was fine, took a day
off and spent the day riding. Heck, I've taken a cold rainy day off and
rode.

The worst ride beats the best day of work, IMHO.

Good for you.

I'm riding to work today, and riding a 600 miler tomorrow. Going up to Bass
Lake for some fine Cuban's (Cohiba) and then ride back home.

A good meal and a couple of Cohiba's will get me outta the house. Wink

Yeah but just try to get him to join you for an eight AM breakfast
call before heading out on a ride.

The smart money is on him catching up to you some time later. <g>

A bit. I paid my dues at my company for 3 years. They promoted me into
a horrible daytime position. Lots of stress and responsibility, and no
appreciation. I did it without complaint and did it well. After three
years, I told the director I wanted my old job back. He said OK. I
said I wanted to work 2nd shift. He said, "Fine, we don't want to lose
you." I'm the only person in the engineering department who works 2nd
shift. The luck comes in finding a good company to work for.

I don't understand why more people don't work later. I'm far more
productive, I don't have to deal with any of the daytime politics,
it's much quieter without all the interruptons, and I have a life
outside work. When I worked days, I'd get home at dark and turn into a
couch potato. I couldn't get anything done in my life.

Friggin weirdos. Who was the moron who invented the alarm clock,
anyway? The guy oughta be castrated. Chickens wake up early - look how
smart they are. Life is too short to get up early every day.

It's now 10:30am. I think I'll head for the beach. The bikini babes
should be showing up about now.

The beauty of being retired is I never have to take a day off work in
order to go riding. Smile
