Well, as the OP was talking about taking his missis away for a
weekend, I rather assumed it would be a special occasion. I certainly
wouldn't pay that if I just wanted some bed and nosh for a ski
weekend, no.

Sure, but asking the FOAK where would be good to take her would surely
indicate a desire for something other than just a bed for the night,
ergo it's resonable to assume that it was special.

If you're looking at Orford, I'd recommend one of my favourite hotels
and eateries:
