Plans to increase speed cameras by up to 50% across Merseyside have been
scrapped after the DfT refused the application made by the Merseyside
Road Safety Camera Partnership as many of the sites did not meet the
accident criteria needed to site the cameras there.

I wonder if this is happening up and down the country?

I think Essex abandoned it's plans for more cameras when the Sheriff got
up to 9 points and had a quite word with the Chief constable.
