My experience has been that young men mature at different rates, and
the rate at which they grow up and become responsible has little or
nothing to do with their actual intelligence. >> Stay informed about: Confronting a squid |

Well, I would have been civil up to the point where the lecture started.
It's OK to discuss motorcycles with fellow motorcyclists, but as soon as
you grab the moral highground and start saying 'how it should be' with
safety gear I'd tune right out. How I make other bikers look is of no
concern to me. If I'm wearing jeans I might be going out where it would
be uncomfortable to wear M/C gear....or I might just enjoy riding in
jeans on the day?
Then when you got to the 'chicken strips' comments I'd do what I've
advised a mate to do....play dumb and ask what a chicken strip is, and
when you bend down to point to it, slap you round the ears for being a
smart bastard! (Don't think old age gives you free reign to run your
mouth off.....even when you are right!)
And then you bag his choice of bike!!!! I don't know how you can get on
a bike with balls that big!
You still ride after near death encounters, do you see yourself as
someone who should give up motorcycles 'for the sake of your grandchildren'? >> Stay informed about: Confronting a squid |

Really on the bloody nose thing. Have you ever been in a war zone or
seen the results of phyical violence at the animal level? Me thinks
neither you or our NZ friend have ever served for their prospective
counties (military out of their countries) & have led fairly sheltered
lives. Talk is tough. I a 62 year old 160lb semi-cripple confronted
this obvious 200+lb body builder and didn't back down, rather he did.

Really, what is the point of all this? I thought the idea was to
provide a new, uneducated rider, with an alternative riding scenario
that *might* save his life and (if so) let him be around to raise his
kids and to grow into being a good (or better) father? >> Stay informed about: Confronting a squid |

Yeah, most people are a bit extra touchy about their personal space in
this country.
But even if the cops did come to investigate promplty, without any
noticeable injury to the person, a slap on the ears would probably end
up getting charged as "disorderly conduct," at the worst, which is
usually a local city/county ordinance violation rather than a state
misdemeanor. Thus it does not look as bad on one's record, but will
still set you back $200-300, plus court costs if you fight it.
But I, too, always think there be a lot less wars and murder in this
world if there were more bloody noses.

doing...) it is always good to first ask them, "do you want to

Enjoy it Bob. Everyone who posts on a regular basis will attract their
share of detractors.
They are fun to play with, like teasing a puppy.
I've come to the conclusion that it is possible to get involved in a rather
heated flame war with someone and in the end, if that person is worth
knowing at all, all can be forgiven and friendships created, despite the
differences, political, motorcycle, religion or otherwise.
Hell, you and I have exchanged words, some I regret, but that is the past.
And maybe someday we'll get to ride together.
But the puppies, I'll continue to tease and annoy them. And the puppies
know who they are. >> Stay informed about: Confronting a squid |

Agreed. Bob and I have had our battles over the year, but he is one
of a very few netizens with the backbone and the honor to apologize
