The cycle parts of the CBX1000 & CB900F look similar, anyone know if any
actually are the same? I'm thinking things like forks, discs, calipers,
swing arm, switches, lights etc.

Can anyone point me at a website which would let me compare parts nos?

It looks like I'm going to have a small heap of CB900 bits to dispose of
and if some bits will fit CBXs as well that will broaden the potential
market.

OTOH, if anyone needs bits for a CB900F or a DOHC CB750 gimme a yell &
I'll see I can help.

www.bikebandit.com has useful schematics and part numbers, but it's
laborious comparing two. You will find that an awful lot of CBX cycle
stuff looks the same but isn't: calipers, lights (especially lights)
and other parts are subtly bigger. Valve shims are the same, and I
think things like valves, as well. ICBW, but the CBX may use DOHC
CB750 pistons.

But there's no direct comparison site that I know of, and I've been
looking too. There is one for Ducatis, mind.

I was afraid of that Sad

Maybe I'll try & sell it as a complete bike if it'll lumber through an
MOT. Then again, if it doesn't blow up I'll end up wanting to keep it...

But that's easy - the same bits will be broken on the different models.

Got an exhaust? I'm going to try and MOT my CB750F2 with a loud one.
If the tester doesn't like it, I'll be looking for a legal one.

Hmm... The engine would fit... Is it a runner?

Cheers,

Nick

Dunno, haven't picked it up yet, never mind looted it for the bits I
want. The cynic in me says that if it does run it won't do so for long,
it is a CB900[1] after all.

Think I've been reading too many of TOGs posts - I seem to have bought a
bike just to get my hands on a few bits Smile

Bob

[1] I've got previous with CB9s - 1st time it seized solid at 110, 2nd
time we got recovered from Antwerp. After the 3rd time (limped home on
2) I left it with a charged battery, full tank of petrol, key in the
ignition while I went camping for the weekend - came back to find some
sod had stolen the keyring

Were they dodgy? I think the 750s had a better rep. but I don't
remember any
details.
