Can anyone recommend a good street boot? I'm looking for something that I
could actually walk in and maybe wear under jeans if I ran out to the store.
I also plan on a few track days next year as well. Any recommendations?

Thanks,

I bought some Firstgear boots earlier this spring and have used them a lot.
They are comfy and have thus far been completely waterproof.

There aren't any boots optimized for both street and track. Usually
it requires a couple crashes to puzzle this out. Sometimes track
crashes are debilitating due to the incorrect footwear (or other
gear). Many life-lessons come at a steep price.

I'd say "look at the GP stars" for gear, but many top riders are
gear-shills so that won't work. Word is more than a few wear Daytona
Security Evos under the logos of competitor's brands. If true, very
funny.

Consider what factors might be valuable to foot protection on the
track. Now imagine walking in a pair of highly-protective track
boots. Oil and water.

That's not to say debilitating foot-injury crashes don't occur on the
street, as well. Once in awhile, they do. That's a chance we take.
Personally I often wear Kushitani boots for commuting. While not
terribly protective, they're comfortable and seem like they might wear
forever.

On long-distance rides and/or wet and cold days, I wear Ranger
Matterhorns.

They're warm, dry, and Thinsulate-lined. With wool socks underneath,
they survived my Alaska ride the other month where the other two guys
were bitching about cold and wet feet. I don't know if the steel toe,
shank, blah blah helps anything. I've crashed wearing them various
times, with mixed results. Motorcycle and combat boots are a social
statement you may or may not be prepared to make, however. I think of
it as "combat touring."

I use Sidi Strada Tepors. Great street boot - waterproof and comfortable.
It does get hot in summer, but they also make an air version with
perforations. Good for the track? It really doesn't have any ankle
protection so I wouldn't recommend it. All the 'race' boots with ankle
guards that I tried walking in were pretty uncomfortable off the bike.

Aerostich "Combat Touring." Heavy, adjustable, good ankle
protection & support. They start out about the consistency of a
two-by-four, but break in nicely a few hours of wear. I've worn mine
for a full day at a time, and no ill effects.

OK, I haven 't shopped for a while, but I don't think you can find good
walk around boots which also protect well. The idea of track and street
footgear seem to me to be not mixable.

These might work:

http://www.helimot.com/catalog/boots/boots_roadstar_data.shtml

Should be protective enough for the track, and somewhat reasonable to walk in.
