My ebay auction fizzled today. I'm being offered about $500 less than I want
for the 1100.
Haven't decided to relist it yet, or just keep it to next spring when its
worth more. I've still got a few people out there who called me off the
craigslisting, but it doesn't look good for this year.
The weather being what it is, I'm considering some mountain touring over the
next few weekends, try and stay out of the heat. >> Stay informed about: Bike didn't sell.... |

I must have missed something, Troy. What are you getting to replace
your 1100 with or are you just going to keep the SV solo?

What did you miss, it's the end of the prime bike buying season, it happens
every year.
He'll be posting about lurking around dealerships next month, when the
prices are dropping like rocks on new and used bikes.

I like the 1100, but its a touring bike, and I'm pretty firmly convinced now
that I'm not a touring rider. I tried, I really did, 2 summers in a row, 3
cross country trips, but at the end of the day I can nearly do the same
amount of traveling on the 650, so I hardly need another bike to be just a
wee bit more better suited for touring. >> Stay informed about: Bike didn't sell.... |

I am predictable, aren't I? I haven't forgotten about DR650's, DRZ-400S's,

I guess as long as you don't loose yer' shirt there's nothing wrong with a
change of vehicles.
I saw your other post on touring where you said the 1100 wasn't any better
than the SV-650. Then except for the first couple of long trip I always
went with at least one other rider, often four to as many as six. Then
anything more than 250 miles is a stretch for me anymore. That's prolly the
bigest reason for selling the Sprint and getting the little RZ. It's just
about right for a 100 mile weekender to starbucks-(meeting place) then the
canyon, breakfast and back.I counted my own bikes since I started this NG
and there are five and I'm currently on prolly my last bike. I bought some
low speed (soft) carbon fiber reeds off the net last week in hopes for a
broader power band (2 bands actually 3-7K & 7-10K) so it acts more like a
modern 4 stroke. I may just use two stock reeds and the other two made of
the softer Carbon fiber, for a mix of low and high end breathing.

I can't remember why you're irritated at the bike. I thought you were

Sounds like you're coming around to my way of thinking.

The bike is great. I'm irritated at me. I was hoping that riding on a nice
touring bike would turn me into a touring kinda guy. It didn't. And the
incremental difference between the 1100's touring abilities, and the 650,
are slim. Therefore, having an entire machine dedicated to a small niche of
my riding range just isn't worth it, capital investment wise. >> Stay informed about: Bike didn't sell.... |

Made money on the last couple. This one, I'm only getting offers for what I
paid for it, but I'm pushing a little harder to get more this time.

I ride alone nowadays, particularly when I go cross country. The 1100 is
good...but the 650 isn't far behind it, plus it does alot more of the riding
I do, shorter range, twisties, commuting, and I can still reel off 600-700
miles on the interstate if I want to. >> Stay informed about: Bike didn't sell.... |

You'll lose the $500 in devaluation if you hang onto it, won't you?

Nah, I bought it cheap, what I'm being offered is right about what I paid
for it, but I put a fair amount of money into it, and I'm trying to get some
of that back.
If I keep it, I'll probably spend more on it, collect a Corbin maybe, by
