I was doing a similar thing about the Commodore tape deck on the shelf in
the radio store room - they weren't that shape until '82

Me too. In '81, I house shared with two mates who were also
motorcyclists. The only rows that we ever had was about what music to
listen to (our tastes were completely different). Bizarrely, we only
agreed on The B52's, JJ Cale and Lightnin' Hopkins - so that's what we
spent most of our time listening to.

Better than average IMHO, but not *much* (and I *loved* Live on Mars).
IMHO Alex Drake's behaviour is just too bizarre, and yet goes completely
un-remarked.

I'll give it a miss, having now read that the Quattro is a 1982 model
in 1981. I mean, what *were* they thinking?

They could always claim they had a pre-production prototype model. In
1987 I was nicked for speeding by a copper in an unmarked Audi 90
Quattro a long time before they were available to the public in the UK,
it was the only one in the country and on loan from VAG.

IIRC the Audi they used was a 1983 model. But it was OK at best to be
honest.

Fr Jack <sp RemoveThis @m.com> wrote the following literary masterpiece:
>Bloody good!

As usual I seem to be out of step with the general population.

I tried watching it a couple of times but couldn't manage more than a
few minutes each time before turning it off. I thought it was absolute
shite, which is a shame as I liked Life On Mars.
