Post subject: AMA Superbike's become boring; Yosh Suzuki the only winners. WSB more diverse
Archived from groups: alt>motorcycle>sportbike (more info?)

After watching the AMA Superbike race today it struck me that there's
more going on than just Maladdin & Spies's talent. The Yoshimira
Suzuki team is so much faster than the rest of the field and that
makes for a boring AMA series. OTOH, watching WSB, as much as I
dislike Honda Racing, has pretty much been an even playing field with
Honda, Yamaha Suzuki, Kawasaki & Ducati all in the top ten finishers.

I'm a Suzuki fan but either Honda & Yamaha have gone to sleep (no real
support) or the Yosh team just has it all over everyone else and that
just doesn't make sense.

On the street, Suzuki has the best showroom racing bikes but I think
Honda has the best streetable mchine this year. Hell, you can almost
take a stock GSXR1000 to a CCS race and if your a very good rider, can
win races.

The 600SS replica's seem to all be pretty competitive right off the
floor. I just would like to see how the new 675 triples do against the
600 I4's in AMA competition. I'm sure someone would pick them up "as a
team" if the damned AMA would just allow them to run with the SS class
and not just formula extreme.

When the rules changed to favor 4 cylinder bikes and few years back,
Yoshimura and Suzuki had already paid their dues so to speak and so were a
jump ahead. Then thru hard work they have kept the edge, not to mention they
have hired and groomed the best riders. This is all good for them but does
make for boring race win results.
