Archived from groups: alt>motorcycles>yamaha (more info?)

I have a question regarding the AIS removal. The vacuum hose that runs
from the rear cylnider intake manifold and the AIS system has a
orifice in the line.

What is the purpose of the orifice?

I've removed the hose completely from the rear cylnider intake
manifold and place a vacuum cap on it. Is that the correct thing to
do? Or should I have just plugged the vacuum hose at the AIS module
and left the line with the orifice in place attached to the rear
cylnider intake manifold?

Thanks for the help.

Tom

You did it correctly, removing the entire hose and capping the stud at the
rear cylinder intake. I am not sure, but I think the orifice is there for
dampening of pressure fluctuations. Leaving the hose in place and capping
the end will cause condensation to collect.
