Just had an email from the AA saying that they're stopping the service
from the 9th December.
That's a bit of an arse. Usually saved 2-3p a litre by checking on the
site and fuelling up at the cheaper end of the journey, which was over
100 quid on my annual mileage.
It might not be massive savings but if I've got two insurance quotes,
one 100 pounds more expensive I wouldn't be choosing that one.

From an email I received from moneysavingexpert.com:

DISGRACEFUL AA. IT’D RATHER KILL PETROLBUSTERS THAN SAVE IT. The
AA’s announced it’s closing AA Petrolbusters, its wonderful website
that finds your cheapest local petrol station. Desperate to save a
unique resource I wanted to keep it running, and could muster a fee to
buy it. It refused to consider it, preferring to scrap Petrolbusters
rather than even let it live.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Someone tried - but the AA are being their usual cuntish selves.

Or possibly, like a lot of things, it's not quite as simple as that. ie
there are reasons they don't make obvious as to why they would not sell such
a service.
Ps. the "AA being cuntish selves" would be the same AA who set up the free
service in the first place?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: AA Petrol Busters website to close |

Was set up by someone else and the AA bought it during or just after the
fuel crisis of 2000 because it was getting so many hits.

Can't remember what they paid but I would guess the guys that started are

Who supplies the data to maintain the price table?
Members of the public?

No, I reckon they'll have banked it ages ago.

They kept it free though didn't they.
So to me that makes it even more relevant - they spent money to buy a
service, yet kept it free to the public.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: AA Petrol Busters website to close |

But when the chap who runs moneysavingexpert.com offered to buy it off
them, they refused and said they were going to close it, anyway.
It would have cost the AA nowt - they would have clawed back some of
their outlay - and someone else would have carried on.
Strikes me the AA are being stupid and vindictive.
Bunch of cunts.

We're going in circles here.
See my earlier post as I CBA to type it out again.
