Hi

I have a serious problems with my 99 R1.
It get's too hot after a longer ride but just when I stop at a traffic
light. As soon as I start driving the temp goes back to approx. 85-90.

Top temp is 128!!. The fan acts as usual (107:ON 98:OFF) and cool don
slowly (really slow).

the thermostat I changed already. thermoswitch is ok too.
Water pump works. also enough coolant inside.

Any ideas?

regards

mart

there was a similar "problem" with the old original 900 ninja kawasakis. I
put problem in quotations because it was more of a problem as perceived by
the rider rather than a mechanical issue. Do you know what Kawasaki'sfix
for this problem was? The dealer was to install a 5 ohm resistor inline
with the temperature sending unit, which made the guage read lower. Several
of us also installed a switch to allow turning the fan on manually as well
as thermostatically.
A buddy of mine has a heavily modified 2000 R1 (regeared, ported, Nitrous)
which he rides like a retard, and it doesnt get hot enough to ever worry
about.
My point? Don't worry about it. john
