It's an insurance document. There will be, somewhere, one of those
"if you withold pertinent information" things.
If, however, the info on the doc is correct, so your policy does show
it is a 1200, then you should be OK this time.

Can you prove anything about this conversation?
Can you prove that you told them it was a 1200? Do you have anything
in writing at all to say that you have not witheld pertinent
information?
If not, then don't hit anyone....

Like Zebee said though, that offer almost certainly contained some fine
print that says, effectively, if this _isn't_ all correct and true then
we don't have to pay out anything.
Seems to me you're "saving" a few hundred bucks, with a fairly small
risk of it going wrong, but that could well be mitigated by the
potential extremely high consequence if it does go wrong.
If you _do_ happen to hit someone and put them in a wheelchair for life,
how much do you think that's likely to cost? How carefully do you think
the insurance company is going to check things over before signing
_that_ cheque?
Like I said, it's a small risk - I don't think anyone has ever claimed
against my greenslip insurance since I started driving 20 something
years ago, but whatever you do, don't underestimate the potential
expense of injuring someone without watertight insurance. Medical care
is _expensive!_...
I'd be asking for something in writing from them saying they know your
motorcycle is larger than 100cc...

Just went through the whole green slip and there is no small print that says
anything remotely like that. The bike model matches exactly what is on
the rego papers and all the details are correct. >> Stay informed about: $80 for Greenslip |

Don't you just feel duty bound to go out and knock down some innocent

What is coming out of the parliamentary select committee on green slip
pricing is that this green slip thing isn't what you think it is...
It isn't an insurance policy where you insure against hitting someone,
so that the premium you pay is based on the damage you do.
The premium you pay is based upon the damage someone *assumes*
(without recourse to anything as potentially helpful as the actual
numbers collected over decades) you might sustain.
So motorcycles, which do bugger all in the way of hitting people pay
heaps whereas cars, which hit and seriously damage peds, cyclists,
motorcyclists, other cars, trees, small furry animals, and the occasional
train[1] pay nowhere near the premium they should pay given the damage
they do.
Zebee
[1] I dunno if the train gets that badly damaged from the hit, it's
the lying down afterwards that seems to cause it difficulties >> Stay informed about: $80 for Greenslip |
