I take it that it starts just fine when it's cold, and that the distributor
is properly retarded? Have you checked that both spark plugs are firing
when it's hot?

To rich of pilot jet,,,,take it down a couple just to lean it out on purpose
then see what it does. If it starts fine cold, but starts like shit
hot,,,its could be to rich. I've seen it before,,,,done it as a matter of
fact.

What color are the plugs? -Should be light tan.
Are both plugs the same color? -If one is darker or black, you may have
an intake leak.
Are the plug(s) wet? -Petcock/carb float needle may be leaking by.
Have you tried a diffrent coil?, [to rule out a heat-related internal
short].

Does yer S&S have an accelerator pump? If so, when it's warm, just
give it about an 1/8 of a turn throttle and kick th' fucker. No need
to give it a few squirts when hot/warm... yer floodin' it.

My shovel would be hard to start when hot if I accidently gave it any gas.
When cold, two short twists would do just fine. But when hot any gas would
cause it to flood and be very hard to start.

Barring any electrical issues, then a carb adjustment would seem to be in
order. As others have mentioned here, most likely too rich. A good place
to start would be to lean out the settings a little and see if that helps.
Plug colors are a basic indication as to what's going on (Tan good, dark or
white bad). Be sure to make any final adjustments when the engine is at
operating temperature.
