Under £500

Is it possible to buy a bike for learning on for under £500 ?

I jumped on my mates boys QR50 and I want something a bit more suited for
someone who 6 feet tall ! Only for thrashing round a field no jumps or
anythng involved.

Any good second hand bikes to be had for this sort of cash ?

Secondhand bikes? Yes. Good ones? No. Clapped-out motocrossers
certainly used to go for this sort of money privately a couple of
years back but expect bodges, knackered chassis bearings, chains &
sprockets, weeping fork seals and yet more bodges.
