I hope Easy can meet Joe Mamma at the pearly gates and get him to give
up his tin foil hat.

If indeed there was/is a "pearly gate", I would be shocked to learn if
the hats were now not made of very finely rolled platinum.

Hey MrScottly!
Nice to see you in here although I wish it was on a different subject.

I'd rather have those broken windows when the time comes than to have
never been able to see the world thru them.

I met Easy the first time I hit Smiley's. It was the year he brought
Scottly (with the broken leg). He made me feel right at home as the
newbie. We got to spend time together at other Bikeweeks,
Biketoberfests, MISFITs, and through email. I remember riding with him
at one point and having him tell me I could ride wing with him anytime.
I didn't take that lightly.

One MISFIT (at Scotty Macs), Hawgeye was there with his girlfriend (I've
since forgotten her name). She was the one who slept through the
Dragon... even when Hawgeye decided to go off road for a few turns.
Anyway, she challenged Easy to a drinkin' contest. It was neck and neck
for about 2 drinks. I don't know if any of you remember the old cartoon
pictures of the drunk with his eyes exed out... That's the best
description I can give of her. I've never seen anyone sooo drunk, and I
used to own a bar, AND I've been to a wedding or two. Hawgeye wound up
carrying her back to her room like a six pack. I was sitting in the
living room, Easy was on a bar stool. He turned around at me, and just
winked. That grin, like "Anyone else?" I'll never forget that look. He
was just toying with her... he hadn't even gotten started.

This part is hard. I've had a pretty tough year so far... and I don't
want it to distract from the subject at hand. I needed a ride... a long
ride, and this was the opportunity to take a ride with Easy. So Thursday
noon, I picked up the new bike and made a reservation for my 1,000 mile
service Friday at 11. The sales guy and the service guy looked at me
like a had two heads. I said I've got my music (The Seeger brothers, Bob
and Pete), and I've got Easy with me. I need to see something soothing.
I headed out I-80 West through PA into OH and back again. The fall
colors are still hanging on and are spectacular, Easy would have loved
it. It's about 400 miles to Ohio, so I went about 30 miles into Ohio and
turned around,,, and waited for that ever elusive 500 mile mark. It was
dark and there wasn't much to see at the 500 mile mark, except deer on
the side of the road. About 30 minutes after hitting 509 miles a
pick-em-up truck went tooling past me with a big man in it... doing my
favorite speed. As he got about 1/8 mile ahead I started pacing him...
this was sweet.

Got home about 12:30am, 800 or so miles later, hit the sack, got up
Friday morning, and finished off the remaining 200 before 11. As I was
riding that morning, I was wondering if there really was a truck last
night. I don't remember him exiting the highway... I would have signaled
him a thank you.

Thank you Easy.

Uh that's EX-girlfriend and I try to forget her name. If you want I can
have her call you too every 4-5 months to remind you. <g>

I told her to stay away from the shine. Fortunately for me she was hungover
for the next couple of days, which made the ride home nice and quiet.
Thanks Easy.

snipped the ride along.>
> Thank you Easy.

I met Easy at one of the original MITM's. I was kind of mingling and
mindin' my own bidness and as I approached the big guy he stuck at his hand
and said "Hi Terry, I'm Merrill." I obviously had a puzzled look on my face
(more than usual.). He returned with "Easy!" I had already put two and
two together, but I quizzed him on how he knew who I was before I had a
chance to introduce myself. He just winked and said, "Its my job." We both
chuckled and shared a couple cold ones. He can always make me laugh and I
liked making him laugh, just to hear that laugh.

We had met up a few more times over the years at various IRL's. We would
drop a few emails back and forth, and he was always good for sending one of
those electronic greeting cards.

A few years ago, when I was going through some tuff times, Easy called me up
and asked if I would paint "Too Fat" for him. I told him I would be
honored. He didn't have to do that, Lord knows there are a brazillion
painters in FLA. Speaking of which, I was looking for something out in the
shop the other day, and I ran across the can of leftover paint from "Too
Fat." There's not much left in the can and I would normally throw it out,
but I think I'll keep that can and proudly display it in the shelf.

To Easy! <clink>

That story was way cool. Very deep. It's been on the stories page of my
website for years. Well, ever since he posted it here. In fact I think it's
the last one I added before I quit updating so much.

Here's to ya man. RIP.

Mine are in a state of disrepair. Been busy fixing and cleaning them so I
can see through them again.
