Trade it in for a Suzuki, Kawasaki, or Yamaha.

Simple answer: do your periodic maintenance, ESPECIALLY oil changes
religiously. Oh, and don't let your teenaged kids ride it!

Change the oil regularly and frequently.

It won't be your last motorcycle.

Just follow the periodic maintenance schedule in your manual. If you
don't do it yourself make sure your bike mechanic isn't an idiot.
Keep a coat of wax on the paint job and chrome polish on the chrome and
keep it undercover when not riding it. Don't put Punjab's discount gas
and oil into it. Don't let anybody else drive it!

It'll only be your last bike if you kill yourself on it...

put it upon blocks and don't ride it.

Otherwise, just perform the maintenance as specified in your owner's manual
and enjoy it and don't worry about what might happen to it. One more thing,
don't waste your time and money on new exhaust systems that may up the
performance and make it sound more like a Harley. Honda pretty much maxes
out the performance from the factory and the only thing you'll get is a bike
that sounds like a loud sewing machine.
