No biggy. It just doesn't rain much down here. A steady throttle hand,
little to no braking and we still rode faster than 90% of the riders
out there.

Then when we arrived for breakfast there was a R1 rider who picked up
a nail on his 190 rear tire, so the folks opened up the store to get
some fix a flat for the guy and my riding parner DJ had a foot pump in
one of his VFR hard bags. BTW, we were the only two to show up for he
"Rain ride" and coincidentally, we're both in our 60's.

So...you want us to notice the effects of senility on motorcyclists as a
warning?

Something like that, if your comprehension of age cannot see your
children's children that may not spend so much time close to thier
grand parents or what you might do or "be able to do" with your time
left at my age.
I've an old HS friend who lives near Palm Springs with he and his wife
in poor heart/diabeties and they basically sit around all day. He's
into serious heart failure, due to excees weight and she has MS in the
late stages with a fushed hip. And they're only my age. Others fair
well into their seventies. My older sister at 65 lives on a sailboat
when they're not up in Mass helping their dauther out with her new
twins. I'm dissabled but can still get around and even ride
motrocycles. How many of you can REALLY say you'd still be riding
after what I've been through, Through no fault of my own. We still
call a deer strike and red light runners either act's of God or give
them a ticket and sue them where I come from.

When I first started to ride, about 5 years ago, rain scared the hell out
of me. I was living in CO at the time. I remember it being a very nice
summer day outside, and decided to take a ride in the mountains despite the
big dark clouds hanging out over there. I still remember the point at which
I turned off the main road, into the mountain, wondering what the hell I
was doing. And there I was, in the twisties, with the rain pooring down,
scared shitless, but having a blast none the less. That is when I learned
you can actually lean the bike over in the rain, and if you just relax and
enjoy it, it is fun.

BTW, the only other bikes I saw on the road that day were BMWs, and I had
never seen so many of them on those roads before - it is like they wait until
it rains to come out of the woodwork: "Oh, the weather is really too nice to
go out riding today. I think I'll wait until it is raining/snowing/below
freezing"

Actually, I think it was a little simpler than that.

I don't plan rides in the rain, but if it rains on or during a planned
ride, it's no big deal. I have rain gear and my tires are treaded.
Of course, I've been riding in the rain when I was in my 20's, 30's,
40's, and plan to be doing so when I reach my 50's and 60's and 70's
and 80's, God and Mother Nature willing!

away!).

I was. I didn't realize that such a slowball of amusement towards one of the

On your response, I can only hope to still be swapping out bikes, riding
them in the rain or anywhere else, at your age. But I damn sure plan on
trying.

You don't need one for the wife to find a poolboy.
