I was just given a 1979 xs65o I was in a head on but engine looks good. And
i striaighted the frame fairly easy. after looking and reading here about
the spark. does anyone have a easy diagram of just what it takes to fire
plugs and charge battery. i couldnt find points in the points cover .does
this year have contact braker points or is there another way of fireing
plugs .??/

The 1979 was the last year with breaker point ignition, but it is
possible that the bike has had an aftermarket electronic ignition
installed. Look at the coil (usually under the tank) and track the low
tension wires back.

There are good wiring diagrams in the Clymer and Hanes manuals, and
google should show up some online with a little judicious search foo.

i believe the 79 was the second year of the
stator-electronic ignition.
