Post subject: 1200 or 883

I have a 2000 Sprotie that has a 883 that is supposed to be changed to a
1200 how can I tell that it has been change to a 1200 with out taking it to
the H/D dealer ?It gets 45 MPH when I run it on the open road.

Well if you boost the cc's up by about a third you should be able to go
about 60 MPH on the open road.

if all it can do is "45 MPH" ?
its not even an 883.

You have to put it in 5th gear, remove your spark plugs, and
roll the bike until your front piston is at bottom dead center.
(BTC). Then you have to pour oil into the spark plug hole,
carefully noting how much oil you put in until it is filled.

Then you note how much you put in, multiply it by two,
and see if it comes to 883 or 1200.

Voila!

(Don't forget to convert from ounces to cubic centimeters
if you use Harley oil.)

Maybe it's a 441.5? I rode one of those once (fouled plug)... it did about
45...

My 1996 883 conversion to 1200 pegs at 120!
