To enable you to get the intended life out of a MF battery you must use a
charger intended for that style of battery. The sealed units do not act on
exactly the same principal as the traditional lead acid style. The charger
must be capable of "gassing" the battery and returning it to it's 13+ volt
charged state. The charging system on your bike will NOT actually recover a
depleted MF battery. Look into getting a proper charger and it will prove
to be less costly than purchasing batteries on a regular basis. I have been
thru all of the possible "cheap alternatives" and have found that when I bit
the bullet and got the right charger, intended for MF batteries......every
thing worked fine.

Thanks, at least now I know the difference. My battery charger is quite old and
a sealed battery for my 1100 VSTAR is pretty pricey here in Ontario $300.00
PLUS! It pays not to screw it up.

Vstar 1100 Custom.. Muffler removal to change the oil ??? - Seems the dealer has a trick to avoid the removal of the muffler in order to change the oil, but I can't figure it out. My pipes are cobra slip-ons, so there shouldn't be a difference between these pipes and the stock ones. Anyone know the secret? PM
VStar 650 - I hear the valves need adjusted often, and it's a difficult job. Is this true? Is this bike easy or hard to maintain?
vstar 650 - any opinions,I'm 5'8 220lbs I dont have much time but I would like to get back on a bike.Is this bike too small (underpowered)for me? My reckless sportbike days are behind me. Lou
vstar vibration - My 2003 vstar 650 classic vibrates at 60MPH or faster. Below that speed there is no vibration. Is this typcial for this model or is there someting that needs to be adjusted by the dealer since it is a new motorcycle? |
